Teachers should encourage students to be critical thinkers who can answer questions and form opinions about the world, to create self-sufficient citizens and humans, and to affirm and develop the multitude of identities and backgrounds students have.”

Olivia’s Story

Teaching Discipline

Chemistry

Why Chemistry

“Chemistry at the most basic level explains almost everything we interact with in our world. My understanding of other sciences—namely biology and physics—has always been built using the core principles of chemistry to help my understanding. I’m looking forward to finding similar connections in earth science to share with my students.”
