This profession provides so many opportunities to have a positive impact on students and their future contributions to society. I hope that students leave my class feeling empowered to face the world through a scientific lens.”

Chris’ Story

Teaching Discipline

Why Chemistry

“Chemistry is the study of something we cannot see, which is both exhilarating and terrifying! Every day is an exciting challenge to help students explain a phenomena that, at first glance, might appear to be ‘magic.’ ”

Professional Experience

Chris began teaching at Hillsdale High in 2014, where he currently serves as chair of the science department. Prior to joining the teaching profession, he was a Ph.D. candidate in the Stanford University Department of Chemistry, studying amphipathic molecular transporters for drug delivery into cells. While at Stanford, he worked as a teaching assistant for general and organic chemistry classes and was a coordinator for the high school outreach program.

When not in the classroom, Chris enjoys swimming, reading, writing, jigsaw puzzles, and anything neon.
