Kate’s Story

Kate Rosok is an educational rock star. Kate has always been a scientist whether it was in her initial lab career as a geologist, or encorporating specific biology, geology, and environmental issues into wilderness skills courses for college students. Her individual route to teaching took her on many adventures from teaching in China and teaching evening ESL classes at a small school. She completed her teaching degree from the University of St.Thomas and is a unicorn being highly qualified and licensed to teach all science content areas 5-12, communications technology 7-12, and work based learning.

Kate is a leader in her field and has shared her expertise presenting at local and national conferences as well as facilitating professional development for Knowles Teacher Initiative, Minneapolis Public Schools, and the state science teachers association’s Earth Science Teacher Education Project. She is highly respected for her ideas and initiatives in the world of science and engineering education and has been awarded multiple grants to further her work with science and engineering teachers. After 12 years as a Physics teacher at MPS South High School, Kate is now the Engineering and Science teacher at Minneapolis Public Schools’ Career and Technical Education Center. The courses that Kate teaches allows students to receive high school and college credit.
