Inside and outside the classroom, I hope to share the value of learning by being a positive example of challenging myself, accepting and learning from my mistakes, and never giving up.”

Roshan’s Story

Roshan’s father instilled in her a love for learning by sharing his curiosity about everything in the universe. In school, that love for learning continued to be inspired by amazing and caring teachers. She created a particularly special bond with her high school math teachers. When it came time to pick a career, other options and opportunities just didn’t feel right. As a teacher, she feels fulfilled knowing that she has the opportunity to make a positive impact on the lives of others on a daily basis.

After high school, Roshan volunteered with a service and leadership training program for two years. Through her volunteer work, she developed leadership skills and learned the joy of living for the greater good. While studying to become a licensed math teacher at the University of Minnesota, she taught at the Girls in Mathematics summer camp. She also tutored friends and family members in math. Her hobbies include spending time with family and friends, playing sports, traveling, and spending time at her family’s lake cabin.

Roshan is passionate about being a positive role model for youth. For five years, she served as a high school and club volleyball coach. Beyond her work in the classroom and on the court, she recently started a small support group for girls facing challenges at her school.

Roshan loves seeing the light bulb go off in the minds of her students and seeing them get excited about learning math.
