Sujata Ganpule

As a teacher, I like the challenge of getting students to think mathematically and preparing them to approach and solve difficult problems.”

Sujata’s Story

Sujata Ganpule grew up in Northern California and struggled with math in middle school. With the support and encouragement of her parents and teachers, Sujata began to improve and by eighth grade, mathematics was one of her favorite subjects. When she went to college, she became more interested in math; originally a computer science major at Cornell University, she switched to major in math during her sophomore year.

As a senior in college, Sujata joined the undergraduate teaching program, and spent time tutoring and working at Ithaca High School. She enjoyed the experience and decided to pursue teaching as a career. In 2005, she earned an MA in math education and her teaching credential from the University of California, Berkeley.

After graduate school, Sujata taught math for four years with the charter school group Envision Schools. Following that, she taught for a year at the College Preparatory School in Oakland, and then moved to Baltimore and taught at the Friends School of Baltimore for 9 years. She then returned to California in 2019, where she currently teaches at Menlo School in Atherton, CA.
